Document Management

Master Concept Document Management Solution builds on top of comprehensive content services. They are in the middle of our stack and play the pivotal role in enabling work processes. We talk about content services first because, we’ve learned, through the best practices of our customers and partners, that often key documents are “choke points” in work processes. Therefore, building the content intelligence layer first is often the best approach.

1: Content Services - intelligently manage the entire spectrum of unstructured content from a Single unified platform

There are 6 sets of services.
  • Capture/edit services that automate how content is introduced to the platform either by batch loading, scanning or by authoring tool integration
  • Library services to manage check-in/check-out, access rights, versioning etc.
  • Transformation services that manage and automate the creation and management of alternate renditions, thumbnails, video storyboards and PowerPoint assembly
  • Classification services that enable you to create manage and enforce taxonomy standards so you can capture all the metadata about a particular content type including group ownership, lifecycle, related workflows and then apply them automatically
  • Search, embedded in the platform not only helps you find information in the Document repository, but also in multiple Document repositories
  • Publishing and distribution automatically “pushes” content out through various channels from websites, to printed media.

2: Process Services – Native collaboration services that work seamlessly with business process

Collaboration: Rooms, discussions, contextual folders and notes

Business Process Management : Work Queues, Rules, Reporting. Simulation, Stand-alone process engine

Process Services include collaborative workplaces, called “rooms” and business process automation working seamlessly together
  • Business process services enable you to design, monitor and manage highly flexible processes that can include ERP, AR/AP or CRM transactions, email messages and responses, Web Services integration, work activities and so on. In other words, you can now simply model a process without having to decide which tool to use. We are compliant with WFMC standards and are working toward BPEL compliance.
  • Workplaces, or “rooms” enable teams to collaborate in context of a structured process. What’s unique about our offering is that the business process can create a room, invite members, furnish it with content, templates, forms and instructions automatically. Not only that rooms are native to the platform and fully leverage our rich set of context services so for example PowerPoint presentations placed in a “Company Confidential” folder inherits services (lifecycle, access, transformation, distribution etc.) unique to internal presentations while presentations placed in a (Sales Presentations) folder inherits completely different services. – Same file type – very different behavior – based on business rules and classification.

3: Retention Policy Services - move content to appropriate storage devices based on business rules
  • Records and retention management range from full records management capability based on the DoD 5015 standard to server-side automation that requires no user interaction. It enables you to define retention policies that can be enforced automatically virtually invisible to the end user. It is well suited for companies who want to ensure compliance for content, but are not subject to government DoD 5015.2 regulations.
  • Archival – Master Concept provides a very powerful platform for archival of any content type including reports (COLD), images, messages, or SAP content. The archiving capabilities leverage the lifecycle management, storage optimization, security, and retention management.
  • Policy Management – Built-in capability to define various policies that enforce storage use, retention, and other context for content assets.
  • Intelligent Storage – Capability to optimize storage use by defining policies that can physically move content files between various storage systems.

4: Integration Services:

The ECM platform is standards-based. We understand that we need to work with your with your existing IT infrastructure and since we are “interface agnostic” we can surface our platform through authoring tools, portals, workspaces, dashboards and enterprise applications. We offer s series of integration services that enable that.
  • EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) services that connect to ERP systems such as SAP (note: this is not the traditional EAI based on messaging technology, think about a higher level of integration such as Content Services for SAP)
  • ECI (Enterprise Content Integration) services that enable you to reach out and leverage content sources within and outside of the firewall from legacy content management systems, outside sources such Lexus Nexus and FDA
  • AIS (Authoring Integration Services) provides seamless integration with your authoring tools from Microsoft office, to Adobe applications, to Macromedia to CAD tools.
  • BPI (Business Process Integration) Enables the platform to interact with other systems on process level
